17. I paid at the store / pre-paid /
paid with an account.
-
Some people come to the store, pay, and have it delivered
later. Sometimes a customer will have a special credit account and pay later in the day. It's usually a business that
has an account.
-
People tend to forget about tipping in these
circumstances because there was no money exchange with the driver. They pay at the store and completely forget when the driver arrives.
Those with an account typically order huge amounts (with a 50% or greater discount)
and forget to tip.
-
The order must still be delivered as always. The
driver does the same work. To the driver, it's the same as a normal
delivery.
-
You can tip whenever you make payment, if this is before
or after the actual delivery. You can also tip separately when the driver
arrives.
-
If you receive such a delivery, you're still expected
to tip. If someone else paid, you should contact the payer
and make sure the driver is tipped. You could ask the driver if the tip was paid. If not, sometimes a group of people can collect $1 from each person. After
all, everyone benefits from the delivery.
