Delivery story 170

Tanman writes:

I have lots of great stories but this one is the most frustrating.

I used to deliver for Pizza Hut in Blacksburg, Virginia. I once took an order for $50 to deliver to a club meeting at the business department at Virginia Tech. I showed up and waited around in the lobby as instructed for the customer to show up. A few minutes later, another man, wearing a Papa John's shirt, walked through the door with six pizzas himself.

A sinking feeling filled my stomach. Sure enough, a student walked out of the elevator, saw both of us, and walked up with a check to the Papa John's driver and took his pizza.

In an effort to salvage some of my effort I asked, "Sir? Are you the man who ordered my pizzas?" His eyes never wavered.

"No, we never ordered from Pizza Hut," and waddled off with his Papa John's pizzas. The other driver could only give me a sad, sympathetic shrug before he left.

I went back to the store with my six pizzas.

Must be a new MBA technique.
