| What we endure
The most thoughtful customers
-
These wonderful people restore the driver's
sanity in an otherwise crazy, hectic job. This is a list of creative ways
that some customers have been especially nice to the driver.
Asking for change
from the tip

Having the driver
wait for the tip

Adjusting or
re-writing the check

Waiting outside

Asking for change
from the tip
-
If you see that you have nothing but
a $10 bill for the tip, these thoughtful people exchange it for $7 or $8
back. The driver is willing to break bills up to and including $20. This
is much better than thinking you can't tip.
Having the driver
wait for the tip
-
This is when you're at the door and
suddenly realize you forgot the tip. Although the driver must maintain a
rapid schedule, the tip is very important to us. We will stand at the door no matter
how long it takes, to a realistic extent. These nice customers go back and
produce the tip. To the driver, the trip to your house was not wasted.
Adjusting or
re-writing the check
If you notice the check was made for
the exact amount or to the next highest dollar, it's okay to adjust it or
write a new one. Again, it's no problem to wait for the tip.
-
You can adjust the amount simply by
crossing out the old value and inserting a new one next to it. Write your initials near the alteration
and you're good.
Waiting outside
by the door
-
If we take a delivery to your place of employment or
college dorm, these nice people make it easy for the driver to find
them and it really speeds things up. The building may be locked and this
prevents the driver from having to knock. Even unlocked, it's usually hard
to find the right person in such a large area. You are doing the driver and yourself a big
favor.
Blinking the porch
light
If you notice the driver moving up and
down the street trying to find your house, some customers blink the porch
light by turning it off and on rapidly. This is very helpful.
