Delivery story 51

Tim writes:

I've worked on and off as a pizza driver in the Pittsburg, PA area for several years as a second job.I have two stories.

I was recently delivering a pizza to a guy who was a relative of one of the other drivers. The other driver told me how to get to his house, as it was the second house back on a shared driveway. As I drove up the driveway (rough dirt road) I saw three geese, four or five chickens, and a dog in the yard of the first house. When they saw my car coming, the three geese ran out onto the road and blocked me! They were making all kinds of noise. I had to yell out the window for them to move, which they slowly did. As I started to go again, one of the geese tried to bite the front left tire on my car.

On my way back down the driveway after the delivery (got a $3 tip) the geese stayed about 20 feet away from the road, out in the yard. I stopped beside them and they slowly started walking towards me, making lots of noise. When they got about three feet away, I revved the engine a few times and they took off running and flapping their wings!

I told the other driver about it when I got back to the store and he laughed. He says the owner of that first house tells him to just keep driving. The geese will move. The chickens stayed out of my way.

Second story.

A few years ago, I had to take a late night delivery to the local welfare housing project. Needless to say, it's a bad area. I have a concealed gun carry permit and had my 9mm pistol in my back pocket.

After making the delivery, I was walking back to the car and some black guy starts walking towards me asking if I want to buy a video game machine (like an old Atari game) for $5. I said no. He tries to talk me into it. Looking around to make sure no one else is coming, I held the empty pizza bag in front of me with my right hand and put my left hand on my gun, but kept it in my pocket. Now, no one just stands around with their left hand in their back pocket for no reason, so he must have figured out after a minute that I had a gun. He gave up his sales pitch and walked away.

I could tell many other stories of pizza deliveries, but the other stories here cover it pretty well. Non tippers are everywhere. Never had a naked women answer the door, unfortunately.

See my website and webshow at http://www.loudmouthtim.com. Episodes #18 and #30 are also about pizza driving.
