Delivery story 481

I've been delivering for Pizza Hut in Alabama for years now and like anyone else who's done this job for a while I've seen a lot of folks at their best and worst. Yesterday I got one of the worst.

I had to take a delivery to some nearby government housing, a dump nobody ever wants to have to go. Apartment #7 is the worst of the worst, a stiff every time with a history of sending in complaints about drivers. Everybody hates this address...

A young girl (12-13) follows me up to the door and when I get there she opens the door and says, "Pizza man is here." From inside I hear, "The exact change is right there." I put the pizza in the girl's hands, take the money, and start back to the car. This is a walk of about 30 yards and when I got about 10 yards from the car, the girl is outside saying, "Thank you...thank you...THANK you," in a harassing, smart-assed kind of tone. I just kept walking, got in the car, and drove back to the store.

When I got back the manager told me the woman had called and cussed her out saying that I threw the order on the ground and was rude to her daughter. I guess she was expecting me to kiss her feet for getting stiffed there one more time. This crazy, stiffing b*tch made the whole thing up!

You do this job long enough and sooner or later you end up in the wrong place at the wrong time and have to answer for crap like this. Innocent or not, it still makes you look bad.

I was off today so I don't know what will come of it. If she files a formal complaint I could get in trouble over this which is totally unfair. Pretty much ruined my day off.
