Delivery story 452

Pace writes:

I deliver for a local restaurant in an affluent part of Florida. You wouldn't believe how many rich customers try to negotiate the price after I arrive. People, the driver can't change the price. Only the manager is authorized to do that. One customer ranted for several minutes because she thought the price was wrong, refusing my suggestion to call the manager. When I wouldn't lower the price, she called and complained that the driver was drunk. Of course that was a lie.

I had a delivery that was a bit out of our area but they fibbed about where they lived so the order would be taken. I had trouble finding it because of the fib. Then they didn't answer their phone when I called for directions. Eventually I found it and after all that time the pizza was lukewarm so they insisted on a discount. I refused and they angrily sent the pizza back. Actually I was glad because I didn't want any repeat business from them.

Then there's people who think "45 minute delivery" means exactly 45 minutes. I can't tell you how many times I showed up after 20 or 30 minutes and nobody was home, somebody was in the shower, or they were mad because I ruined their scheduled plan. One couple was on the couch making love loudly. I tried to slip away before knocking so they would have time to finish, but they must've heard me. A woman opened the door and called me back. I delivered the pizza without ever seeing her. She just reached her arm around the half-opened door.
