It was 19 August 2010 about midnight. A $50 delivery order came in for 305 Hamilton. Hamilton is a poorly lit street in the 'Bottoms' with quite a few empty houses. I got to the house and saw someone standing on the porch. OK, get out and give the food to the guy on the porch... Well, as I walked up to the porch, 4 guys jumped me from behind, stuck a gun (or something) in my face (I didn't ask questions) and demanded money. I gave them the money. They then punched me in the face a little (they punched like little girls) but I wasn't about to fight because of their number and the possible gun. When they were done punching me, they got in my car and took off.
The police found the car next morning, after they sideswiped something with it. They never did find the criminals. Now, I carry a BIG spotlight, and have a remote lock/unlock/panic button for the car clipped on my belt. Let's see them try it again...
This gave the idea for a website http://safepizza.com to share crimes with other stores, etc. I have much work to do on it, but I want to have a searchable database of empty homes and addresses where crimes have occurred.
Be safe out there!
BTW, fuel is $3.89/gal. I use $15/day on average, and they still don't tip 50% of the time.
