| Delivery story 418

I started my career with Pizza Hut at the ripe age of 16. I worked with an awesome general manager. It was his job to go to stores and bring up sales. He and I got along so well, he brought me with him to help boost sales. I was a cook, customer service representative, waiter, and finally an assistant manager. I turned 18 and with all my experiences I knew if I wanted to make money, becoming a driver was the way to go.
I have read all, yes, all 406 delivery stories. Reading over these I have had lots of good memories and lots of heartache for my fellow drivers that have been robbed. I have *knock on wood* never been robbed during a run. I was in a store that someone “tried” to rob with a pocket knife… I have lots of stories over my 8 years of driving. I will start with these two.
We had two farmers markets in our delivery area. I was dispatched to a stall in one of the farmers markets. No big deal. Park, lock up, hit the hazards and on my way. I found my way to the booth and a mom and her daughter paid me. I know I got a tip, but nothing to remember. I turned to leave and I heard the mom say, "Boy, he was cute." I shrugged it off and kept walking. The daughter said, "Hey wait. Let me see your abs. My Mom likes younger guys." The mom was around mid to late 40s and the daughter was around early 20s. I walked back, lifted up my shirt and the daughter put a note in my waistband and I said thanks. I got to the car and the note read: “You have my number. Call me when you get off, if you want to get off.” OK. I was going to a party later that night so I said what the hell. My shift ended, nothing spectacular. I asked one of my “of age” friends to pick me up a bottle, got home, cleaned up and was on my way to the party. I called this girl, said I was going to a party and she said it sounded like fun. I picked her up, started small talk, and she saw the bottle and asked if she could have some. I obliged and she took a long drink… She shuddered and said, “I’m hot,” and takes off her shirt. I know now this is going to be a fun night… Needless to say we never made it to the party. She and her mom ordered every Saturday at their booth at the farmer's market.
I was working and my run was up. The total was 20 dollars, nothing special. I knocked and this dude opened the door and almost fell out - he was so drunk. I said, “Hi, how are you? Your total is 20 dollars.” The man handed me two twenties. I said, “Sir, your total is twenty dollars and you gave me forty.” I tried to hand him his twenty back and he didn’t understand. I said again, “Sir, your total is twenty dollars and you gave me forty.” He looked at me puzzled and handed me another twenty. I said again, “Sir, your total is twenty dollars and you gave me sixty.” He looked at me puzzled again and said, “I’m hungry. Have a good night,” and he shut the door. 40 dollar tip for a 20 dollar order.
