Delivery story 405

The Metal Hick writes:

Fargo, ND is notorious for windstorms and nasty weather. As the only driver at the time with a four-wheel-drive truck I was often called in when inclement weather struck.

One evening it was the night manager and myself working in a blizzard when the other three Papa John's closed down. The manager offered to close the store but business was good and I was delivering four orders per run, so tips were good. Finally, business had cooled off and we decided to shut down when a customer way out of the delivery area called and asked if we would deliver to him since the other stores were closed. The manager told him that we had shut off the ovens and were heading out. The customer begged us to deliver and said that he would give a really good tip and it would be "worth the trip." I agreed to deliver the pizza and I told the manager that I would split the tip with him since he was staying late, too.

I made the journey to his hotel and the weather was TERRIBLE. His "really good" tip? Two dollars. This was not too terrible for a $15 order, but definitely not worth the trip. I probably spent a dollar in gas driving with 4WD on. I was seeing red and had clenched teeth when I muttered "thanks" and left the hotel.
