Delivery story 390

Curley writes:

I deliver for Presto Pizza in Brighton, Massachusetts. A lot of our business is to Boston College, where the procedure is to call the students on their cell/room phones, and they meet you down in the lobby.

This particular time, I had two deliveries, one each to two different dorms. When I arrived at the first dorm, I called the girl, but she did not answer the phone. I left a message saying I was downstairs and I would call back in another minute or two. I called again, and still no answer.

At this point, there was no way to deliver the order, as going into the dorm is trespassing. I went off to deliver the second order, which was a couple blocks away. That done, I called the first girl one more time, fruitlessly, and started to head back to the restaurant.

Apparently the girl got tired of waiting, retrieved her cell phone from the other room (where she could not hear it ring) and saw several missed calls. She then called my boss complaining that the delivery was late. Right about then I arrived back at the restaurant, and was told to drive back to Boston College. After arriving back at the first dorm, I called the girl, she answered, and said she would be right down. It took her between 5 and 10 minutes to come to the lobby, and when she signed for the credit card, she put a big fat zero for a tip. I looked at her incredulously, then stomped off with smoke coming out of my ears.

I apparently offended her, so she called my boss and complained. I had to endure being scolded by my boss, and came close to being fired. I decided to call the girl back and ask why she would not only not tip me, but also attempt to get me fired when I bent over backwards to bring her her food. Some dude answered her phone and said he wants to kick my ass for being rude.

So the end result of this lovely adventure was, I wasted about an hour of my time, had to make four phone calls and two trips to her dorm, endure listening to my boss and some brainless BC wonder threatening me, and almost get fired. And I never got a tip.

My girlfriend at the time worked at BC, and she knew the housing director, who I relayed the story to. I do not know if any action was taken, but that heartless coed deserves whatever she gets.
