I don't actually work a job where tipping is expected, but I will say this.
I work about 1/4 mile away from a pizza place, and we order about once a week. Every time, I try to give a decent tip because even though it's a short trip, it's still a trip. One day I came up short on money and had to stiff the regular driver by only giving him something like 63 cents. We made up for it next time by giving him a 100% tip. The result? We always get our pizzas hot, fresh, with a smile, and in the rare event of a mishap, always get our problems corrected immediately.
The store directly uphill from us (actually CLOSER to the pizza place) has a notorious stiffer there, and they are always complaining about how slow the deliveries are. Hmm...
