Delivery story 37

Santa Cruz writes:

I work as a driver for both Domino's and a place called Take-Out Taxi. This story involves a regular customer for T.O.T. What we do is deliver quality restaurant food from restaurants that don't deliver themselves. We charge the customer the regular cost of food plus an $8 service charge.

There is a regular customer I deliver to who orders at least three times a week. This guy is nuts! To start, he will only order from one restaurant; we have about 25 to chose from. Also, this restaurant (Mexican) is located DIRECTLY across the street from his apartment and he pays $8 plus tip just so he won't have to leave his house. He ALWAYS orders the same thing. He orders 5 grilled cheese sandwiches, 5 flans (some kind of dessert) and 8 cups of milk.

This guy is so neurotic, he leaves specific instructions on how he wants the food packed in the heat bags. If you're already thinking this guy is a freak, you have no idea. He comes to the door stark naked (mental picture: he's at least 50) and uses the door to conceal his nudity. His apartment smells so rancid, I honestly hold my breath when he opens the door. He has hair like Einstein and looks like his skin has been deprived of sun for years. Oh yeah, I lied; he's not totally naked. He wears some type of gardening gloves.

Also, he won't accept the food the easy way. He insists on having you place the two food bags, one at a time, just inside his doorway so he can then proceed to spend 10-15 minutes removing each item and "setting up." I have never been inside his apartment (and never will) but I have seen a glimpse and noticed he has no furniture or decorations. The only thing I could see in the living room was a tall pyramid in the center of the room of empty styrofoam containers. Talk about loopy.
