Delivery story 363

Augustus writes:

There is a corporate office for a certain large bank in my delivery area. They order often and tip almost never. When we get there, we have to call their phone. Usually, they don't leave a cell phone number, so we have to call the office and have them contact the person who ordered. It becomes a real problem if they don't leave their name. We usually wait five to ten minutes in the lobby for them to come down. Every time we see the address on the delivery screen we all feel sorry for the guy who has to take it.

I got stuck with one of these deliveries. I took the order, got it there in less than thirty minutes after the order was placed, and got a sub-$1 tip. At least I got SOMETHING, right? As I got back in my car, in a somewhat foul mood, someone knocked on my car's window. The first thing I thought was I had forgotten to bring them something. But it was a different person. I rolled down my window, and she asked me if we usually get tips here. I told her the truth, and she handed me a five dollar bill, saying that her nephew delivers pizza, and she knows how it is. I was dumbfounded. I didn't even know what to say. All I could say was, "Oh, thank you!" She made my day. A simple, unexpected act of great kindness like that. If you're reading this, thanks so much! You're a great person!
