I used to deliver for Domino's Pizza in Airdrie, Alberta, Canada.
A couple of deliveries stick out. Good ones, like the house party of kids who were $2 short on their tab, but offered me a 6-pack of my favorite beer instead. How could I refuse?
There were bad ones, too. It was Friday evening rush and we had a couple of drivers no-show. I took 4 orders at once to Tin Town, the trailer park. The first 3 deliveries had totally cleaned out my float. All I had were twenties. I went to the last house and a 10-year-old boy answered the door. Their total came to $24.83 and he handed me $25. I explained that I was fresh out of change, and asked if that was okay. He said that he guessed so and I left. Well, I got back to the store and my manager was FURIOUS. I guess the kid's mother had phoned and torn a strip off his hide about how I had ripped off her kid. She wanted her change. So I got to drive 15 minutes each way to deliver 17 cents worth of change. I threw it in her kid's face when he opened the door. Poor guy, it wasn't really his fault.
On another note, if you ever stay at the Westin Hotel in downtown Edmonton, don't order pizza from room service. You'll be paying $29 for a $9 Domino's pizza in a white box. It used to crack us up when we would have a direct order and a room service order going to the hotel at the same time. Poor suckers.
