Delivery story 298

Australian delivery girl writes:

Another story about how much people suck.

I deliver in a rural area of Victoria, Australia. Since people are a fair way from their neighbours we can get away with loud music late at night most of the time.

I delivered to a house with really, really loud music. Insanely loud. I rang the doorbell and knocked on the window - completely futile. I could even SEE people walking around inside but I couldn't get their attention. I decided to call them, but they couldn't hear the phone so it went through to the answering machine. I left a message explaining the situation, and that I'd be returning to the store if they didn't come to the door within the next few minutes. I continued ringing bells, knocking on windows, waving my arms around, and tooting my car horn.

Eventually I gave up and returned to the store. Once I got there the manager told me they'd got a late complaint from the house. "Our pizza was due ten minutes ago and hasn't arrived yet!"

They were pretty sheepish when we told them to check their voice mail. Nevertheless, they asked me to return with the order. No tip.

Why do I continue with this job!?
