This happened on March 16, 2007. I work at Little Caesar's in Sioux Falls, SD.
About 8:30 a lady calls in an order for a cheese pizza and a 2-liter of pop for delivery. She lived in apartments right behind the store. Her total came to $9.01. I went to her apartment and delivered the pizza like normal. She paid me and that was that.
I was halfway down the stairs when I heard a "Hey dude" come from up the stairs. She said that she ordered two 2-liters of soda. I said, "No--you only ordered one." I was standing right by the other guy when he took the order. She was like, "You are charging me $9 for just this pizza and one 2-liter?" I said that and a $2 delivery charge. She was all pissed that we had a $2 delivery charge even though she lived right behind the store. We charge that no matter where they live. I didn't say anything more to her. Then she said, "You guys are a bunch of fuckin' idiots over there." I said nothing and left.
When I got back to the store she was on the phone with my manager bitching at him. He told her the same thing about the delivery charge. After five minutes she finally hung up. Thirty seconds later, she called back and the manager answered again. She said, "I ordered a pepperoni pizza and you guys sent me a cheese." The manager said she had ordered a cheese. He wasn't going to fight it out so he told her to come down there and he would exchange it for her.
My manager made another pizza. He even put extra pepperoni and extra cheese on it to try to make her happy. He showed all the employees the pizza so we would be witnesses if there were more problems. She came in and was relatively calm compared to how she was earlier. We exchanged the pizza and we figured that we were done with her, but that was when the fun began.
About 15 minutes later she walked in again. There were two other customers in the lobby. She immediately started bitchin' again claiming we gave her another cheese and that we can't get anything right. She opened the box to show us. It was obvious that she had picked off the pepperonis. She told the manager she wants another pizza. The box was now open on the counter. My manager said, "You ain't getting one as that is not the pizza we gave you and you picked off the pepperonis." She picked up the box and threw it as hard as she could over the counter and against the wall. Pizza slices flew all over.
Then she started screaming at us about how we stole $9 from her and that she now has no supper. As she finished yelling at us, my manger was busy picking up the slices. He pulled two slices of pepperoni off one slice and showed it to her, which made her even more pissed. Then she said she would call tomorrow and walked out the door.
My manager just remained calm during all of that. He said it was the most funny and bizarre thing that ever happened. He said he had one other person toss a pizza at the wall once but it was a different situation and the guy had a reason to be upset. So, yeah, it was an interesting night. I'm glad I was there to see it. Hilarious.
We're not done with her, yet. That was just the supervisor tonight. He called the head manager and filled her in. She told him to leave the receipt with her phone number and she would deal with her tomorrow. The lady will get a earful because the head manager doesn't put up with any shit from any customer unless they have a really good excuse. It was too bad the head manager wasn't there tonight. It would have been really funny to see what she would have done when the lady tossed the pizza at the wall.
