Delivery story 2

Anonymous writes:

I'm a driver for Papa Johns in Carrollton, Texas (little podunk town near Dallas.) On one of my first ever deliveries to one of the more ghetto apartment complexes in our area, I knocked on the door and a lady opens it. This guy walks up behind her, with his eyes bugged out, and yells out, "DOES PAPA JOHN REALLY SMOKE CRACK?!?" She and I both looked at him; she was embarassed, and I was thinking something along the lines of, "Oh crap, I don't need to deal with a cokehead today."

Another story is when I had to deliver to a farm off of a dirt road technically outside of our area, but they were only about a block outside of it, and nobody else covered them, so I took it anyway. Did the delivery, got the money, etc; but as I started to drive off, I heard a chain rattling. I looked to my left to see a huge dog already in the air trying to jump in my window, which was open. Thankfully, my car was already in gear, although Honda Civics are NOT known for their dirt road abilities.

My last story. ;) On New Years Eve (00/01), we had a massive ice/snow storm come through the area. We were still delivering, but not even quoting delivery times. Jjust saying, "It'll be there when it gets there," and, of course, driving extremely slow. Any drivers that didn't feel comfortable driving were offered the chance to either work inside the store through dinner rush or go home early. I was going down a road that I'd been using all day. The last time I was on it, 20 minutes prior to this, it was clear. This time I found a patch of ice while going around a curve. Needless to say, someone found my car parked in their yard a few seconds later with a flat (tire actually exploded when it hit the curb) and two bent wheels, a bent frame, $800 in damage to the right front suspension, and about $1000 in body damage to the front bumper and right front fender. I still managed to finish that delivery after putting on my spare, but my car would only turn left or go straight until I got the suspension fixed.
