Delivery story 192

Delia writes:

I used to work at a Papa John's in Ohio. I worked there for three years before heading off to college and there's still a story or two that I always tell people.

Good Times:

Went to work before actual store hours to make and deliver a large order for a football camp. Pizzas were stuffed in all available spaces of my car. Got a huge tip for one delivery and then had the rest of the day off. Yay!

Another fun time was when I ended up delivering to the same street, but different houses, throughout the day. One guy, who I had delivered to earlier in the day, was outside and saw all this. He chats me up some and is a friendly ol' chap. He ends up ordering again just to give me a large tip for "feeding all his neighbors." :)

And also much love for all the little kids that complimented my pigtails! You made a young gal smile!

Bad Times:

Stepped out of my car to be immediately set upon by a large dog! The dog is jumping up and down, trying to get the pizza and is all the while covering me in mud and scratches. I'm talking actual paw prints all over my shirt and pants. I finally get to the door and the customer finally gets a hold of the dog. Best of all, the guy doesn't tip!

Delivered to a hotel whose elevators are down. It's a large order, so I'm huffing and puffing my way up four flights. I get to the room, where upon the customer reveals they had given me the wrong room number. They were actually on the second floor! And then, instead of taking their pizzas and heading back to their actual room, they continue to wait on the fourth floor as I make return trips to my car to grab the other pizzas. I just left the rest of their order by their hotel room to save myself some time and frustration.

Bad weather story! I was on a delivery with super high winds blowing through the county. My car was getting tossed about, but I made it. When I get to the house, I notice several toys being blown away, including a small bike! I'm nice, so I grab the bike and deliver it along with the pizzas. Customer looks at me like I'm insane, gives no tip, and later I find out that I had just missed a tornado! I risked driving in a tornado for you, Mr. No-Tipper!!

And last story involves a crazy lady. When she answered the door, she asked if I had heard anything weird when I took her order. I hadn't taken her order and said so. (The guy who did had already gone home.) She explained that she was on new medication and sometimes said things she hadn't meant to. Okaayyyyy, that's weird, but I thought little of it and headed back to the store. Before I made it back, I found she had called asking for me at least three times. She called again and I talked to her. Again, she asked if I had heard anything on the phone or at her house. I said no and hung up. Now I'm trying to decide if she's just nutty or if something bad had happened. I figured it was better to be safe than sorry, so I called the cops explaining the suspicious behavior. She still continued to call immediately after each conversation I had with her! Turns out she had been beating the crap out of her kid and was afraid someone had heard something they weren't supposed to. Scary!
