Delivery story 184

Steve writes:

I worked for Papa John's in Lakeland, Florida in '91-'92. One of the people no one liked to deliver to called up and ordered as they did each week. They never ever tipped any of the drivers.

Well, this one day, I showed up and the parents weren't there yet. The kids came to the door with the father's change container, counting out exact change as usual. The boy took a quarter from the container, showed it to me, and said, "Do you take these kinds of quarters?" To my delight, I immediately recognized the "quarters" as Susan B. Anthony dollars. "Sure!" I said cheerfully.

I believe their total was $14.48. They gave me $14.50 in "quarters." I gave them their two pizzas and two pennies change and went on my way. I walked away with $58.00 in "Susies." They never called again. That'll teach them, cheap@sses.
