Delivery story 148 Scott the driver writes: It was my first delivery of the evening and it was all the way to the other end of the area. If the dude was there, you might get a buck or two. If the lady answers, it will be a guaranteed stiff. My bad luck, the lady answered after five minutes of knocking. She said, "I'll be right back with the money," with a sh!@-eating grin and closed the door. She returned with 20.25 for an order totaling 20.19. As she closed the door, I noticed a Steak 'n Shake name tag on her pants. That just set off the "fu^# that" button in my head. I waited for her to close the door, then I knocked very loudly. After she opened the door I said, "Ma'am, do you work at Steak 'n Shake?" "Yes." "Do you work for tips?" "Yeah." "Well, we (pizza drivers) do too and I'm not trying to come off like an a$$h#le, but your order was 20.19 and you gave me 20.25."
