Pizza delivery q&a

Is it true that drivers don't carry coins?

Most drivers don't carry coins. Especially on the shift's first delivery. Managers assume they won't need it and they're usually right. One or two customers all year might ask me to return the coins. Even people who don't tip refuse the coins when asked, which means they think of coins as unwanted garbage. You really don't want to care about something so petty. If a customer remains adamant about receiving coins, most drivers will round up to the nearest dollar or quarter. They must need the change more than the driver. Later on, drivers pick up coins during the shift but some trade it for bills at the store. So, they tell the truth when they claim not to carry "change." It's rare that a store starts their drivers with $1 in coins.
