The same thing happens when they receive a large discount. Remember, the order must still be delivered. The driver does the same work. Since the order is free, you should be more free to tip. The $3 minimum usually applies in this situation. In general, one tips based on the original amount before applying a discount. If it was discounted for the following reasons, you should still tip. You received the wrong pizza on some earlier day. It was late. Remember, the driver doesn't make it late. The cook messed up and had to remake it. That's a kitchen mistake. It was erroneously listed as a pick-up (carry-out.) The driver is not responsible for in-store mistakes. You received a special deal of some kind. If it was free or discounted for another reason, you might have a time when not to tip. You're getting all this pizza for free or with a considerable discount. The least you can do is tip.
