9. The pizza was free /
discounted.
-
Most people don't remember to tip when the order is free.
They must think 15% of zero is zero. The same thing happens when they receive
a large discount.
-
Remember, the order must still be delivered.
The driver does the same work.
-
Since the order is free, you should be more free to
tip.
-
The $3 minimum usually applies in this situation.
In general, one tips based on the original amount before applying a
discount.
-
If it was discounted for the following reasons, you
should still tip.
- You received the wrong pizza on some earlier
day.
- It was late. Remember, the driver doesn't make it
late.
- The cook messed up and had to remake it. That's a
kitchen mistake.
- It was erroneously listed as a pick-up (carry-out.)
The driver is not responsible for in-store mistakes.
- You received a special deal of some kind.
-
If it was free or discounted for another reason,
you might have a time when not to
tip.
-
You're getting all this pizza for free or with a
considerable discount. The least you can do is tip.
