| The most aggravating things about
being a driver
19. People who taunt the driver.
-
The customer had the tip ready but removed
some of it at the last moment. Suppose the total was $19.58 and the
customer had $23 in hand. Before giving you the $23, right in front of you,
the customer takes $1 or $2 away and hands you the rest. Sometimes they take
all the tip. This is very frustrating and leaves the driver perplexed because
there was no complaint. You have to say something if you have a complaint.
Otherwise, the message you send is that you're a total jerk. People do this
for apparently no reason. It's cruel to do this right in front of the
driver.
-
The second form of taunting is when
the customer intentionally doesn't tip just to see the driver's response.
If the driver appears downcast in the slightest, they decide
not to tip. This is unnerving! The more dedicated and hardworking, the greater
the disappointment. The tip is expected for doing our job, not for being
a Hollywood actor when the customer doesn't tip. Of course drivers will show
some extent of remorse. They worked hard.
