I got fired from my job as a stagehand for tying nooses. This happened at the same time we got a new GM at Pizza Hut. He won't let me come to work this weekend because my getting fired is a big deal here. Racism is the center of all politics in this city. When a black person [a janitor] ran to a city official complaining about nooses in the theatre that it was a racial attack on him. The city official IMMEDIATLY terminated the three employees involved [myself being one of them] with out questioning my involvment. It was then reported on every news station, newspaper, and online communities that we were fired for being racist. my new manager sent me home yesterday saying that he didn't want me delivering this weekend because they were "concerned about my safety"[more likely scared of ignorant a-----es attacking pizza hut] because we deliver in a predominateley black city. So now because some punk ass b---h wants to go to the top without involving parties invlolved that he felt offended, I'm loosing out on money from both my theatre job and NOW my pizza job... god damn REAL racists...

That's one of the things, it was stated that I tied nooses, when I didn't. Do I know how to tie nooses? yes. Did I in this instance? no. Why were they tied? to get excess line off of the stage. Why nooses? The technical director [TD] did not know how to tie nooses so one of the other stagehands showed him and then he practiced it. A knowledge of the skills involved in tying knots is critical to tech theatre work, if there's a knot someone does know that another stagehand doesn't know it's not uncommon for it to be taught and practiced by those parties. An opportunity arose for the sharing of skills and it was taken. There is no difference between this and a driver helping another driver find the most efficient route to drive. In that instance one could argue that route is taken because it [the route] may avoid black communities and that is offensive. BECAUSE it made the news and BECAUSE our delivery area is comprised of 54% African-Americans, I can't deliver this weekend, and I can't work at the pizza hut that is mostly white for the time being, because it is in the City of Germantown, who owns the theatre I was fired from.

I got fired for tying nooses when I didn't that's thing. The reason I was fired was for tying nooses, but I did NOT tie those nooses. Think of it THIS way.
Another driver comes into your store and shouts "Unionize!" and all of the drivers who hear this including yourself get fired for union talk.
Did you talk about unions? no, but you still got fired for talking about it.
It was deemed appropriate to fire all of the employees involved without talking to them all.

So effing what if it was a noose. Were slaves and victims of the KKK the only people in history to be hanged? Should the Iraqi govt be accused of racism because they hanged Hussein with the same type of knot used to hang slaves?
However, there is one aspect of this that does bother me, IF it is true.
"Also, one of the workers put his head through the noose and all three joked about the "hangman's noose," according to the administration."
I suspect that to be sensationalist reporting rather than a legit report, but without hearing both sides there's no way to be sure.

I told the news in my interview that I have no knowledge of anyone putting their head through a noose beyond what has showed up in the news. As far as joking about it, I don't know where that came from either.

Oh definatley, I'm losing 32 hours of work at $6.25 from Pizza Hut + reimbursments and tips. As well as it's going to make it difficult to explain to any future employers at any other theatres I try to go to in this area... good thing I was planning to move to Houston anyway? This GPAC job was/is my "foot in the door" after getting out of it for the Navy...
