How do you deal with these fools? I do carry extra credit card slips in my car, but the process of switching from cash to credit can take a long time. The customer has to call the store to get the card verified, which can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. But if I'm at some place far from my car like in an apt or campus building, I have to run to my car to grab the credit card slip then run back to the customer. Is it worth the hassle? Last time a customer asked if they could switch to credit, I told them I wasn't able to. The customer's friend next to her said, "You're suppose to be prepared to take credit card orders. What kind of delivery person are you?" I just ignored him but wanted to punch the guy out cold. The lady fortunately had enough cash and tipped 5 bucks. I can't customers can be so stupid and demanding. "OMG YOU DON'T CARRY EXTRA NAPKINS/PLATES/EXTRA RANCH?/FORKS!!!"

This happened quite often for awhile a few months ago; we had s stupid instore who, among the many things she screwed up, would frequently fail to ask the customer how they wanted to pay. It's just part of it for me. I take their card, call the store (it's faster if I do it), get put on hold, etc. It sucks, but customers are generally grateful for the service, and it's not as if refusing to take the payment is going to make my day go any easier.

At Pizza Hut we have printed driver receipts instead of box stickers. If a customer wants to switch to a credit card, they must call the store to verify but then they can sign and total the driver's receipt. Then, when we return to the store, we staple that receipt to the usual credit card signature receipt. The important part is that customers can include the tip next to their signature. This won't work with box stickers. See if you can substitute any sheet of loose paper for a makeshift receipt and then attach it to the usual receipt back at the store. It will save you a wasted trip.

My employees end every call with "Your total comes to only _, and How Will You Be Paying Today? Works great , but we still get 1 loser about every 2 weeks, I wish I could tell the customers "Sure just tell my driver to bend over and you can swipe the card in his a_" What kind of stupid cutomer thinks you can hand a credit card to a Delivery Driver to pay for your order?
