Was your store busy tonight? Mine was. Busiest night in months. I expect tomorrow to be about the same. We usually have good 10-20 min. OTD times on Fridays, but today I took many runs with times over 45 min. Oldest was 56 min. OTD. Customers were tipping anyway.

Funny you should ask. I got a call asking if I could come in because they were slammed. No can do. I was scheduled to be off today and already committed myself elsewhere. I am helping my wife host a sales party at our house tonight.

Yep..it was busier than I thought it would be, ended up doing 16 runs. Tomorrow should be pretty good also.

Lunch shift was average, I took 5 runs from 11 till 1 pm. Came back at 4, first two runs were triple shots, followed by two good-tipping singles, then a double, then two quads and two more triples before it started to die down a little. Clocked out at 10 pm with 27 runs for the dinner shift when it was all said and done. This is with 9 other drivers besides me working, too. Killed last Friday.

Nope. I took 7 deliveries from 4:30 - 8. Tips were decent, however. $31 in tips.

What are those? Hush before you are sent to retraining camp! Obama has outlawed those in an effort to 'spread the wealth' amongst even more drivers to make up for the inefficiency. Only when we finally achieve 'the singleness of unity' will all drivers finally be equal again.

Took 34 runs between my two jobs. 40 is about average for a Friday. Rush came early. 4-9 driver got 25 and I (6-11) got 20. I usually get more than him, as I am quicker. I got 14 at my lunch job, which is about normal for any weekday.

The day manager was in awe, that it was "so busy", the day driver had to take "five at once!"
If they only knew.
And it wasn't Obama who started the singles only BS, it was Dave Brandon.

That's him on the left, with his chauffeur, Rochester.

My store was slammed with carry-outs and that's all management cares about. Delivery was dead. Our dine-in was packed with carry-out customers waiting for their pizzas. There were more carry-out customers than dine-in customers. OTD was 25-30 minutes at its worse, but that was due to the massive number of carry-outs. After closing, the computer showed sales greater than $3,700. Deliveries accounted for 28% of customer receipts. Drivers had little to do all night. We were standing around looking bored and sometimes helped the cut table as a source of amusement. I had less than 20 deliveries in 7 hours when the store was slammed. Corporate was happy to make their money; too bad drivers don't count. I don't see how corporate expects the delivery charge to pay for essentials like the rising cost of ingredients and labor when so few people order delivery. They'll have to do something else. Hopefully it will put a stop to the $6 one-topping large carryout-only special, funded by the tip-stealing delivery charge. I'm afraid to see how dead Halloween will be for delivery tomorrow.

Funny you should post about getting called in early. Yesterday, I was called in an hour early. Do you want to know about the tremendous financial windfall I got for coming in an hour early? Drum roll please... One delivery in that hour. Just one! The imbecile manager was so afraid of losing precious OTD%, he made sure no driver could make any money. It sat at 100%. He didn't want it to falter to 90%. All singles all the time. All a waste of time and resources. Opportunity squandered.

At my indy we got totally smacked by surprise! Ran out of cheese (the other store brought some) and ran out of dough (had to cut larges down to make the 3 smaller sizes. This is the first time as late driver that I had runs clear to our 1:30 closing. My 16 runs was a lot for a Friday night, and could've been more, but I was catching one of those nights we all get once in a while... where nothing goes with your one run, and your doubles took you to one stiffer and the other to BFE. Tonight was like I expected H'ween to be. But we'll be fully staffed, so I hope it'll be even MORE kick-ass!
